Deltoid Split Approach In Shoulder Surgery
Description
The video details a surgical procedure focusing on a vertical skin incision made from the lateral corner of the acromion, particularly in the lower half. The incision is strategically positioned with a mark made 5 centimeters from the lateral border of the acromion for orientation during surgery. Skin flaps and subcutaneous tissues are carefully raised to expose the deltoid muscle underneath, aiding in further dissection. The deltoid is subsequently divided, allowing access to the rotator cuff and proximal humerus for the procedure. Special attention is given to protect the axillary nerve and surrounding structures during the dissection, employing techniques such as passing an infant feeding tube for additional protection. The proximal humerus long blade is introduced beneath the deltoid to facilitate the surgical maneuvering that follows.
