Palmar Fasciectomy for Dupuytren's Cords

Description

In this presentation, Jesse Meaike and his co-authors discuss a clinical case of palmar fasciectomy performed on a 63-year-old right-hand dominant physician suffering from Dupuytren's contractures affecting the small and ring fingers. Initially treated eight years prior with needle aponeurotomy, the patient experienced recurrence of symptoms, leading to surgical intervention. The examination revealed specific degrees of flexion contracture in the affected fingers. Preoperative imaging indicated arthritic changes in the small finger and reinforced the need for fasciectomy based on established surgical indications. The surgical procedure involved using loop magnification and meticulous dissection methods to remove the pathological cords while protecting nerve bundles. Post-operatively, the patient was splinted, underwent therapy, and showed excellent recovery with full extension at follow-up, highlighting the efficacy of palmar fasciectomy over other treatment modalities.
