The Return of the Old Enemy - My Experience of Using a Synthetic ACL Graft
Description
Klaudiusz Kosowski, an orthopedic surgeon from Poznan, Poland, presents insights into synthetic grafts for ACL reconstruction. Drawing from nearly two decades of experience in the UK and ten years using dual ACL synthetic grafts, Kosowski highlights the prevalent challenges in current ACL procedures, such as long rehabilitation times and complications from graft harvesting. He outlines the advantages of synthetic grafts, including consistent strength, reduced rehab durations, and minimal risks of disease transmission. The presentation details the JewelACL graft's design, material, and research outcomes, underscoring its efficacy in promoting tissue ingrowth which offers long-term stability and recovery. Kosowski references ongoing studies demonstrating comparable or improved outcomes with synthetic grafts compared to traditional methods. He concludes that this approach has revolutionized ACL treatments, aiming for ligament preservation rather than replacement.
