In this introductory session on Basic Sciences, we explore the growth plate, an essential component in bone development. The growth plate consists of several distinct zones: a resting zone, a proliferative zone, a hypertrophic zone, and a vascularity zone. The hypertrophic zone further divides into a maturation zone, a zone of degeneration, and a zone of calcification, each playing a critical role in the growth and development of long bones. The session concludes with a demonstration on how to accurately draw the growth plate, along with labels for each of its key components.
